I don't even know what to make of the NBA Draft last night. My Grizzlies took Thabeet over Rubio (D'OH!) and screwed themselves out of a ton of jersey sales. The Timberwolves ended up landing the Spanish sensation and a few other guards (Isiah Thomas was clearly behind this). Brandon Jennings made a late appearance and David Stern gave him an awkward introduction. The Suns took the crappier brother again (last year it was Robin Lopez). It was an interesting night to say the least.
Today I'm going to leave you with another nice OJ Mayo mix. Enjoy!
Right now I am watching the NBA Finals and The Lakers are starting to run away with the game. As much as I like the NBA Finals, I am more excited for the NBA Draft. It's not far away and the Grizzlies have the second pick (I know you are getting tired of hearing about this). At last year's draft the Grizzlies got OJ Mayo in a trade which sent Kevin Love to the Timberwolves.
As most of you know, I enjoy watching highlight mixes on YouTube. Game 1 of the NBA Finals hasn't held my attention as much as I had hoped so I have had plenty of time to look for some new mixes. I came across a really good OJ Mayo mix which is the reason I am writing this. If you are also finding it hard to watch the blowout that is going on right now, check out the mix below.
The Memphis Grizzlies came out a huge winner in the NBA Draft Lottery with the 2nd pick in this year's draft. But what will they do with this wonderful pick?!
Blake Griffin is a no-brainer at the number one spot. If for some ridiculous reason Griffin doesn't get picked by the Clippers, the Grizzlies would for sure take him. Griffin is a beast and would be a great fit for Memphis. Again, the idea of the Clippers not taking Griffin is ridiculous so I'm going to quit teasing myself and move on.
ESPN's Chad Ford has the Grizz taking Thabeet in his mock draft. Thabeet could potentially be a good choice for the Grizzlies since he is a whopping 7 foot frickin' 3 inches tall. I like Thabeet but I keep thinking back about how DeJuan Blair dominated him when Pitt played UConn a few months back. The Grizzlies already have three players over the 7 foot mark so he might not be the best fit.
There has been alot of talk about the euro sensation, Ricky Rubio. He has been drawing comparisons to Steve Nash and "Pistol" Pete Maravich because of his flair and creativity on the court. He's only 18 years old which could be a good or bad thing. I'm also not totally sold on euro players. The Grizzlies wouldn't want to pick another Darko. But like most Grizzlies fans, I think Rubio has tremendous upside and I would love to see him alongside OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay.
There's no telling what will happen with the number 2 pick but I have a feeling that whatever happens, it's going to be glorious. Now I must leave you with a Ricky Rubio mix. Enjoy.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been playing some good basketball this week. They beat the Wizards last night and have won 3 of their last 4. They have had a pretty rough season so this week has been pretty exciting. It looks like they are starting to actually play like a team and Run GMC has been on fire. Run GMC?
The Warriors in the late 80's and early 90's were carried on the shoulders of Run TMC (Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin). Their run and gun style of basketball brought the team success and injected the NBA with excitement. I think enough time has passed and I can rip off the Run TMC name and give it to my Grizzlies. Even though the Memphis Grizzlies have had a bad season, Run GMC (Rudy Gay, O.J. Mayo, and Mike Conley) have shown what they are capable of. Rudy Gay has been playing like an All-Star, Mayo is making his case for Rookie of the Year, and Conley is proving that he can be an efficient point guard. They have been playing great recently and the future is looking brighter. I think that the Run GMC Grizzlies are a player away from being back in the playoffs. Blake Griffin or Hasheem Thabeet would definitely provide that push for the playoffs.
I'm going to leave you with a good mix of Bryant Reeves highlights. Just kidding. Enjoy some amazing plays from Rudy Gay.
The Grizzlies ended their 8 game losing streak tonight by beating the Clippers in L.A., 118-95. Rudy Gay was dominant in the second half and finished with 35 points. I shouldn't be excited about beating the Clippers but when wins are few and far between you have to take what you can get.
